Welcome

Come in, the water's lovely

What’s New?

IMPORTANT – Covid-19.

MIS A JOUR 03/03/2021

Syb & I, like many of you, believed that the pandemic would be over by now, and a return to normality would swiftly follow. Unfortunately, that hasn’t proved to be the case, and for the second season, we’re issuing our guidelines for those of you who wish to visit.

Please note that we are NOT open for camping guests this year until the 1st April, mainly due to the toilet block refurbishments that we’ve started to undertake in readiness for what we hope will be a busy summer. We can but dream! We’re a small site, and we hope that our personal attention to detail and fewer people sharing the place makes it a much safer venue for your holidays. As the season progresses we will update this notice.

Deposits.

These are now due and payable. The deposits are non-refundable, as per our T&Cs, and remain the same at €50 per camping pitch, and €100/week for a gîte holiday. We will of course be honouring your deposits carried over from last year, with nothing extra to pay. We will be in contact with those of you who have already booked with us in the coming days. We thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Campsite.
▪️Please respect the 1m social distancing rule in ALL public areas.
▪️Ensure that masks are worn in all public areas with limited space. This specifically applies to the shower block and the Kamper’s Kitchen.
▪️There will be a maximum of four people allowed in the shower block at any one time. Two in the stalls, and two at the sinks. This is purely for social distancing reasons.
▪️If you have your own on-board sanitary facilities, you qre reauested to use them, not the site ones.
▪️Use the hand gels provided upon entering all shared/communal/public spaces.
Barn/bar area.
▪️Use the hand gels provided upon entering all shared/communal/public spaces.
▪️In the barn/bar area, tables will be arranged to give the 1m distance required by current health guidelines.
▪️One person at a time at the bar. No drinking at the bar. Once you have been served, please return to your table. No children are allowed at the bar. If you’d like sweets, bread, eggs, ice creams etc, please come to the bar, one at a time to be served.
▪️A table number will be allocated to your family group upon arrival. This is yours for the duration of your stay. It’s where you will be served meals, pizzas, drinks etc. Your table will be disinfected before you arrive for the evening, and after you leave.
▪️When serving you with food and drinks at your tables, Syb & I will wear masks for your peace of mind.
▪️For ping pong and pool table, you will need to ask at the bar for cues/paddles etc. Billiard balls, paddles and ping pong balls will be disinfected before each new user.
Play Area.
▪️Given the low risk advice regarding children, the play area will be open. BUT – this facility is for children aged 11 and under.
Swimming pool/Boules pitch.
▪️The outdoor shower is mandatory before using the pool.
▪️Although the pool will be open for guests, there are limits on user numbers, as per French health guidelines. In busier times, it may be necessary to allocate set times for groups of people to swim.
▪️In any case, social distancing when in the pool, and its surroundings is to be adhered to.
Washing machine.
▪️If you need it, please use the hand gels provided on the bar before you load the machine with your clothes yourself. Syb or I will then close the door and start the wash cycle. Upon unloading the machine, we will hang out your washing for you, wearing disposable gloves. You’re free to collect when dry.
Gîtes.
▪️For gîte guests, we apologise, but no books, games, dvds or ornaments will be available during your stay. The fewer things there are to disinfect, the quicker a safe turnaround between guests can be achieved.
▪️Please do not arrive to take up occupation of your gîte before 4pm, and please aim to leave before 10am.
▪️Please note that for this season, you’re advised to bring your own bedding (quilt covers, sheets and pillow cases), towels, poolside towels as well as tea towels. We apologise in advance for this and hope you understand.
While we appreciate this all seems very OTT, please be assured that we’re taking your safety as seriously as we’re taking our own. Many of you know our familial situation with Syb’s mum, and that we’ve been locked down for longer, and far stricter than the UK. We firmly believe this is why we’re able to welcome you all back to Le Chant d’Oiseau, but we’d hate for all our good work to be undone.

Remember too, that although we’re missing our hugs and our handshakes, the whole point of this is to stay safe, and get through this together. Don’t forget that this is an ever changing situation. We aim to keep you all informed either here or on our Facebook page.

We hope very much that ‘normal’ service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Stu and Syb

Here at Le Chant d’Oiseau we don’t promise anything but a place to relax, unwind and cast aside the stresses of everyday life. Whether relaxing in the sun with a good read, or meandering the quiet country lanes by bike or on foot, we invite you to soak up the peace and tranquility of ‘la France profonde’ at its most enchanting.

The western Loire valley is the perfect place to take a holiday, a short break, or relax out of season. From quiet riverside picnics to the stunning Grand Parc Puy du Fou and so much more in between, you and your family can have the holiday you all want. Together!

You can choose from one of our three beautiful gites, created from the ancient farm buildings collectively known as ‘Les Chants d’Oiseaux’ for hundreds of years, or a pitch on our small (but perfectly formed) camping ground. We invite you to spend your time here in whatever fashion you wish, at prices you can afford without sacrifice to quality or comfort.

Le Chant d’Oiseau is perfect for a family get-together, to meet with old friends, or to make new ones.

There’s no pressure, just the promise of your kind of holiday, how you choose to spend it! While we love to make a fuss of a special celebration, we also appreciate that sometimes peace & quiet is just what you need! We’re led by you, our guests.

We regret that NO pets are allowed on site except guide dogs.
