“Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour. L’accueil est excellent et le cadre est magnifique!” Famille Fauvel.
We believe Chardonneret (or Chardonneret Elégant, to give it its full name) was added onto the end of what is now our house in 1843. (Spot the date etched into the stone to the rear of the building!) Formerly an animal barn, it has been renovated and subsequently modernised to offer fully wheelchair-disabled friendly accommodation, with easy ground floor level access and specially widened entrance and interior doors.

Chardonneret is our ‘baby’ gite, as it sleeps just 2, but is also ideal for young couples with a baby. Wheelchair access within the gite is made easy with the open-plan aspect. Thoughtful touches such as accessibly positioned plug sockets and ‘drive under’ basins have proved popular with guests. This little gem is ideal as a romantic hideaway, or as an economical long-stay let while looking for your own property in the area. Chardonneret is essentially an open-plan apartment, large and roomy but with a separate bathroom.
“Another peaceful stay. Great hosts, good company and lovely food! Enjoyed the wine tasting and the visit to the domaine! Will be back again sometime soon! Thankyou!”Ruth & Colin Richardson.
The newly refurbished bathroom comprises of a toilet, basin and bath with shower over. We also provide cleaning materials here, as well as toilet rolls to get you started.
A patio to the front of this little gem provides a lovely area to sit awhile and take in the sights and sounds, maybe stirring every now and then to add something to the BBQ! All outdoor furniture is provided, including table, chairs, BBQ, loungers and cushions etc.
All lets of a week or more include our welcome pack of fresh local goodies, including a chilled carafe of wine to enjoy upon your arrival!
We often find that Chardonneret is taken by mum & dad (or even grandma & grandad) while thr younger generation prefer to pitch their tent or caravan right next door! This seems to be a very popular way for families to spend their holidays with us! The large lawn right beside Chardonneret is big enough for the largest tent or modern caravan and there’s an electric hook-up point as well as a water point right by the gite! All modern conveniences!
While we would ask you to leave the gite in a clean and tidy condition when you leave, we don’t expect you to spend your last day cleaning it for the next guests. That’s our job!
“Three words from The Marketeer – ‘Amazing’, ‘Fantastic’, ‘Wonderful. Thanks VVV much!” Clare & Neil Hallam
Le Chant d’Oiseau is the place to rest awhile, recharge your batteries and unwind. Hope to see you soon!
