Camping

The spacious campsite.
The campsite is situated within the grounds of our 400 plus-year old farm house. It's a small site, just 10 pitches on the main field and two up by the smaller gite, Goldfinch. (Ideal for camping alongside non-camping friends or family!) The grounds are mainly laid to grass, with over 60 (count them!) mature trees and shrubs offering privacy and shade from the sun. The ten pitches on the main field are arranged around the outside edge of the site, leaving a large clearing in the centre where you can relax, or let your children play safely. Because Le Chant is a fairly small site, you can see what your children are up to, whilst you relax by your tent or caravan. Each one of eight spacious pitches has a 'UK Type' electric hook-up (6-amp only), and there's enough room to pitch however you feel comfortable. We've also got two non-EHU pitches under the trees giving plenty of shade on those long hot summer days.
Our charming unisex shower block with exposed beams has oodles of character. Formerly the old holding pen for newborn calves and sheep, it now offers plentiful free hot water for all our camping/caravaning guests. There are two toilets, two showers and two basins. One of the toilets is a shared w/c with shower making it suitable for wheelchair users or for families with small children. So there's no reason not to come to Le Chant d'Oiseau! The toilets are always stocked with toilet roll, and we have fresh cotton towels and soap dispensers for your use. Our charming, wheelchair friendly shower
block.                                                 There's plenty of space for the kids to run around and let off some steam, while mum & dad can relax with a glass of the local wine over a long, lazy lunch with provisions from the village, 5km away. We keep the gates closed at all times to give you peace of mind when your children are playing with their new-found friends. Or running around with Bracken, our friendly family dog.

Why not explore the local villages in a more leisurely fashion and hire one of our bikes by the day, or week? This way, you can leave your bikes at home, saving space and weight in the car. (And have more space for wine and beer on the homeward journey!).

For the 2006 season, we introduced our new splash pool. You can relax on the lawns while your kids enjoy a dip! Or take a dip in the water yourself to cool off after a session on the loungers, under the sun!!The pool.

We also have a range of outdoor games for the kids and adults alike including badminton, ping-pong, boules and footballs. If you're a keen golfer, you may like to use the golf practice net to hone up your skills before heading off to one of the many fantastic courses we have locally. There's a separate field behind us that's great for pic-nics and ball games too! If you simply like to relax and watch the wildlife, then you may be lucky and spot the deer that roam the fields around us, sometimes even wild boar, although they're usually very shy...

There's also a fridge-freezer available for you to freeze/exchange your freezer blocks free of charge. We have a microwave handy too, for your baby's bottles etc. There's also a washing machine available for use at a small charge. New for 2007 were a pair of lovely wood and wrought iron gazebos in the old barn to take out the sting of the midsummer sun! Relax with a book during the daytime, or join us for a meal under the canopies on Tuesday & Friday evenings (or why not both?).

The lovely, airy gazebos

Le Chant d'Oiseau is open all-year round, making it the ideal destination for an out of season short break, or as an overnight stopover from the Channel ports on your way down south to the Mediterranean coast, or Spain. (Although we can't guarantee that you won't want to stay longer, once you're here!).                                                   We can also accommodate small rallies on the main field at Le Chant, (up to 10 units) and we have a huge 'party marquee' available for use. Ideal for birthdays, celebrations, or just to relax with your friends in the evening. If it's your birthday, or special celebration whilst here, please let us know, and we'll bake a cake! (They're very hard to find here in France!).

Limited caravan/camper storage space is available here at Le Chant d'Oiseau.
Please ask for details.

If you'd like to bring your non-camping friends or relatives along, no problem! Why not enquire about renting one or more of our beautiful gîtes? You're able to pitch right beside Goldfinch, our apartment gîte for 2. Ideal for when gran & grandad or mum & dad want to share a holiday with you too!

We came to the Loire specifically to stay here, and haven't been disappointed either by the campsite or the area. A truly beautiful, relaxing, rural retreat. Many thanks!

Charlotte & Nick.
